History to Present
Binary Environments Ltd (Binary) started life in 1998, providing hosting and some collocation on a T1 connection. Founded by Lindi Cupples, an entrepreneur with a background in arts and jewelry, Binary quickly grew into a well known and respected Vancouver based IT company. Focusing on providing Enterprise grade Internet Presence Services led Binary to the forefront of the booming Internet business of the early 2000’s, and made it possible for Binary to weather the storm of the dot com bust shortly thereafter. Binary always provided services on both Windows and Unix platforms, but with a great emphasis on open source products and software.
In June 2008 Binary went through a change of hands. The change in ownership was from company founder Lindi Cupples to the Dynamic team from Dynaworx, a company of similar vintage to Binary, and John Batyka the Director of Sales for Binary. Though Binary and Dynaworx had been competitors, they had always passed clients to each other when the other team best suited the needs of the customer. This lead very naturally to a great merger and now the two companies combined cover all the bases for hosting, collocation and IP based network services.
